Why John is always considering his shed
John Doran is an educator and self confessed ‘possibilitarian’, helping others see there's nothing wrong with them, that what's right with them can't fix. He leans heavily on his inner circle and uses a number of strategies, one summarised by the acronym, SHED. To John, SHED translates as the building blocks we need in place if we are to bring our ‘best self’ to each day. He advocates:
Sleep - Always try to get a good's night sleep
Hydration - Start the day with a glass of water and stay hydrated
Exercise - Make sure you break sweat at least 3 times a week
Diet - Feed yourself the finest physical and mental diet you can
In this podcast, he shares a number of additional helpful strategies, many learned in his work with teenagers and those involved in education.
Energy is a recurring theme in John’s approach to life and work and he’s a strong believer in being strategically selfish, that is investing in your own self care as this in turn is an investment in your capacity to help others.
